I’ve been using the online accounting software FreeAgent for the past few weeks and have to say I’m pleasantly surprised after not expecting much from it (I’ve trialled a few solutions and they seem to be either too complicated or lacking features). FreeAgent is ideally pitched at small businesses and freelancers in an affordable and easy to use package. The features I’m particularly impressed by are:

  • Easily create branded estimates and invoices.
  • Create an invoice from an estimate in one click.
  • Upload, filter and track your bank balances.
  • Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly views on your sales and balance sheets.
  • Dashboard display for useful items such as overdue invoices and bills (changeable).
  • Time tracking and project management elements.
  • Expense management and easily bill expenses to clients.
  • Self assessment, tax and VAT management (though I haven’t used these extensively).
  • Multiple users with varying access settings.

The only slight stumbling block is the need to spend some time setting up your business data if you’ve been going for a while but the more accurate information you enter the more you get from FreeAgent. Give it a go and let me know what you think. And, you can get 10% off by using the link below.
